Set in the Salinas Valley in California at the  metre of the Great Depression, John Steinbecks tonic Of Mice and Men offers a  draft glimpse into the hardships  workforce faced at this time. The setting, characters, action,  mode and ideas  are deftly written to support Steinbeck?s  sentiment in people managing feelings of  lonesomeness and  impotency through the American Dream. In a world where these feelings are widespread, George, Lennie, Candy, Crooks and Slim  hear  safety device in insubstantial aspirations of a   break in life. When George shares his dream with  separates on the ranch, they all begin to formulate dreams where  lonesomeness and  impotency is nonexistent. However, when Lennie  inadvertently kills Curleys wife, these dreams are dashed. George, Lennie, Candy, Crooks and Slim all  award a  example of person in society that is  practically discriminated against.
